Thu, 01 May 2008 12:10:43 PDT- There was a new feel around West Point this spring.
"There's an entirely different attitude this year than there was last year," said quarterback Carson Williams during spring ball. "It's good to see. It's exciting. It gets everybody going. There's a lot more of a team mentality. I think it's going to go a long way."
Will it go all the way to the first winning season since 1996?
That's the question that remains as the Black Knights hit the weight room for the spring and summer.
Two decisions were made that could produce more wins. First, the program softened the schedule, getting out of games with Boston College, Georgia Tech and Tulsa. Then, Stan Brock, about to enter his second season at the Army helm, brought back the option offense. Removed by Bobby...
Tue, 29 Apr 2008 14:59:17 PDT- Rookie minicamp in the NFL looms this week for Caleb Campbell, whose life doesn't figure to change much as he leaves college for the professional ranks. "Not much sleep. A lot of work," cadet Capt. Campbell said Tuesday in a conference call from West Point, where sleep is a treasured commodity. "I think it's going to be really competitive.

| Navy - see all headline |
Thu, 01 May 2008 12:10:43 PDT- Paul Johnson is no longer the coach—the very successful coach—at Navy, but replacement Ken Niumatalolo, groomed for the job by Johnson over the past five years, steps into the top job in a Navy football program that is thriving.
Five straight bowl games. The most-feared running attack in the country. Is there any reason to think any of that will change with Johnson having gone off to greener pastures?
So far, the only change has been that the head coach no longer rides around on a golf cart, which, strangely enough, Johnson says came at the suggestion of Niumatalolo.
The Midshipmen lost more than the head coach and must replace several key members of the team.
Wed, 23 Apr 2008 07:13:07 PDT-Ohio State will play Navy to open the 2009 football season. The schools announced a two-game series on Wednesday in which Navy will come to Ohio Stadium on Sept. 5, 2009. The Buckeyes will meet the Midshipmen on Aug. 30, 2014, in a game to be played in the Annapolis, Md., region. The Buckeyes have won all three times the two schools have played, including the last meeting when Ohio State beat Navy...

| Temple - see all headline |
Thu, 01 May 2008 12:12:28 PDT- It's all about taking the steps that will continue the improvement in Philadelphia.
Temple won four games last year, all of the wins coming in its first year in the MAC, and coach Al Golden faced the spring looking for more answers with the hope of improving on the 4-8 final record.
He went through spring with No. 1 quarterback Adam DiMichele still rehabbing the broken leg that shut him down early last year. He took a look at what he hopes will be a new and more productive running game but was quick to point out that what he sees in the spring is not what he'll see when fall camp opens up. "We have a lot of guys right now that we're trying to force into roles, and when you play cherry versus white, you're playing a lot of guys who either wouldn't get into a game...
Sat, 19 Apr 2008 20:04:00 PDT- Quarterback Vaughn Charlton threw for two scores and ran for another as the Cherry squad came away with a 21-6...
